How Does The Refrigerator Work?

Have you ever wonder how a bottle of water that you put in the fridge can change into a block of ice? As we have learned since primary school, there are several physical changes of including freezing caused by the refrigerator. You have to contact commercial refrigeration repair if the freezer of your refrigerator cannot freeze the water. Commonly, we only need 3 hours to freeze a bottle of water containing 400ml of liquid. If your freezer takes a longer time, you have to check the conditions of a repairman.

Why Can The Water Turn Into Ice In The Freezer?

As we know, a physical change can happen from a liquid into a solid because the kinetic energy in the water molecule decreases for quite a long time. The water temperature spread into the freezer temperature and make the molecule walk slowly and stop. It is called freezing.

How Does The Refrigerator Work?

Four main components below have an important part to make the refrigerator cooler.

  • Compressor

The compressor is a long pipe where the refrigerant liquid called Freon gas flow from its place. It turned the cold gas from Freon being compressed and changes it into hot vapor and gas. Later, the hot vapor will proceed again in the condenser room which is located behind the refrigerator. When the compressor works, it produces small noise which indicates that the compressor is working.

This main part is mostly made a common problem which makes your freezer cannot make cold water. If this condition happens, you must contact commercial refrigeration repair to solve the problem

  • Condenser

After the Freon gas is compressed into super hot pressure in the compressor room, the condenser work to cooling down the temperature. The super hot refrigerant will release its hot temperature through the condenser. Since it is located on the outside, the hot refrigerant vapor does not need a longer time to be colder. The room temperature which is lower than the compressor room will condense the hot gas and make another physical change from a gas into liquid.

  • Expansion Device

An expansion device is a long pipe that connects the condenser room to the evaporator room. The pipe brings low-pressure liquid with lower temperature and distributes it to the evaporator. Since it has a long pipe, it also functioned to lower the pressure and cooler the water droplets.

  • Evaporator

Evaporator contains low pressure and temperature of the refrigerant liquid after a long process in the compressor, condenser, and expansion device. The evaporator room will absorb more heat from the residual water droplet from the previous stages. The wasted water droplet will be sent back to the compressor to continue the same process.

Two Main Reasons Why Your Refrigerator Is Not Cooling

Once you buy a new refrigerator, how many times did you check its condition? The refrigerator is a kitchen appliance that needs more attention and maintenance. Since it works 24 hours a day without stopping, it is possible if you check it regularly. If you don’t, your refrigerator cannot work properly. Below are the 4 main reasons:

  • Check the compressor

The compressor is the main part of a refrigerator that produces cold gas into the evaporator. You must check its conditions from the sound. A normal compressor only produces low noise and it spins smoothly.

  • Get Rid of your Ice in the Freezer

Some older refrigerators may cause ice on the wall and bottom of the freezer. If this happens continuously, it will block the evaporator to spread the low pressure and temperature vapor. As result, it will condense in the Evaporator room and force you to call commercial refrigeration repair.
